Did you know Job? The man who allowed by God to be tested by Satan. Maybe you haven't read his story, but probably you already heard about it.
Like Adam, Joseph, Noah, Moses, David, etc., Job is one the popular characters in the Bible. His story was extraordinary and inspirational. Why? click me. :)
In a typical family, the father normally provides the basic needs while the mother would give most of the affection. The father will do his best to make sure that his family is safe and secured in everything. That's a father's love.
While reading Job chapter 1, I noticed an unusual gesture (comparing to today's father) of a father for his children.
"His (Job) sons used to hold feasts in their homes on their birthdays, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would make arrangements for them to be purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom." - Job 1:4-5
In the Old Testament, people offered burnt offering as atonement for their sins (burnt offering depends on what sin people have done).
I was thinking, is there a father I know did the same what Job has done for his children? I just hope that they're still fathers out there (may not be aware) doing what Job has done for his children.
Job made sure that his sons and daughters' souls are secured by purifying them. In my simplest translation, he destroys the sin before it even went out.
As for me, I'm a father now; I praise God for letting me read and understand these verses for there will be an additional legacy that I will pass to my children.
We want the best for our family, especially our children. We watch over them when they are sleeping, we are amazed and sometimes cry for happiness by just simply looking at them. :)
Well, that's us, how much more our Father in heaven, He gave his ONLY Son to save us.
"For God so LOVED the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16
