The Witchcraft

Two days ago, I was browsing Yahoo website when found this article:

Saudi man executed for witchcraft

I remember stories from my elder relatives that they had/have a neighbor who was/is practicing sorcery and witchcraft. Whenever a person from their barangay got sick without any reason (because the doctors can't determine the cause of their sickness), witch doctors (wherever they were) always blame the witch or other spiritual entities.

They said that this witch has already killed several people, including one of my relatives. Unfortunately and technically they can't prove it.

I do believe that supernatural thing exists, and witchcraft is one of these. It is very common to Filipinos, especially in provinces -- because they still live in a traditional and folkloric way

Years ago, I saw from TV, a witch was interviewed -- If you request him to kill a person, like for example, someone you would like to take revenge; For a sum of money, he'll just cast a powerful spell to kill this person. These people have no difference from hired killers who used guns to kill. Its just that this witch has publicly sent his message "pay me, and I'll kill for you".

The Witchcraft is to kill and deceive people.

God does not allow this practices, they should be executed when found.

“...Do not practice divination or seek omens." - Leviticus 19:26
"Do not allow a sorceress to live." - Exodus 22:18

"When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God.
"The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so. " - Deuteronomy 18:9-14

If you know someone have a supernatural sickness/disease, DO NOT consult witch doctor or any object, they may heal but their power does not come from God.

It is the best practice to read the Bible, because reading the Bible we'll gain wisdom. Having this wisdom we'll know who are the people of God that we can count on whenever we're in need.

The greatest quality of a leader

It's been a while now since I published my last blog. Though I have one, but it's in my draft folder.

With my guide, I'm now in the book of 1st Chronicles. Praise God!
I describe this book as a concise version of what happened from the previous books but with some additional and more helpful information.

While reading the Chapter 18 of 1st Chronicles, one verse captured my attention that tells about (for me) the greatest quality of a good leader.

I've experienced talking and writing blogs about leaders, from a simple children Sunday school to publishing blogs. I  published about attributes of good leader (whether a church leader or just simply school project leader) I even wrote a blog for compromised leaders. However, this time, I'm writing about a leader who is just right for his people.

Just recently, my country (Philippines) has impeached its Chief Magistrate (Supreme Court Chief Justice -- CJ).. Imagine? Oops, I just realized that this is no longer new to us, since Philippines is already known for ousting its leaders.

I can't help myself but to tell my opinion about the historical CJ (Chief Justice) impeachment trial.

I'm not for the CJ (if he is found guilty then he should be judged according to the law and punished according to his offense), but I'm for proper justice system.

I don't know the technical stuff about laws but I do believe in the concept of Reward and Punishment.

Simply, by doing good you'll have a reward otherwise punishment. Everything we do have an equivalent reward or punishment as mandated by law, whether it is the law of God or Man.

Like for example, A library room with signage saying, "Silence Please." A student forgot to turn his cell phone off/silent, then somebody sent him SMS having phone's notification heard from the whole library room. He was brought to the principal's office, then eventually expelled from school.

He was expelled in school just because he did not turn off his cell phone or put it into a silent mode.

Excerpts from the speech of the three senators:

"What started in the House is not an impeachment, for impeachment is accompanied by formalities." -- Sen. Joker Arroyo

"Granting, therefore, that the Chief Justice violated the SALN law, this certainly does not rise to the level of an impeachable offense..." -- Sen. BongBong Marcos

"The defendant admitted that he did not declare his dollar accounts and certain commingled peso accounts in his SALN.  Did this omission amount to an impeachable offense? No.
Under the rule of ejusdem generis, when a general word occurs after a number of specific words,
the meaning of the general word should be limited to the kind or class of thing within which the specific words fall.  The Constitution provides that the impeachable offenses are: Culpable violation of the Constitution, treason, bribery, graft and corruption, other high crimes, or betrayal of public trust.” An omission in good faith in the SALN carries a light penalty, and is even allowed to be corrected. Thus, it is not impeachable." -- Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago

"We may be faulted for erring on the side of conservatism. But what we are doing is redefining the relationship between branches of government, and when such great affairs of state are uncertain,
the resulting instability puts every Filipino's future in limbo. This is an important, delicate, momentous event and because of that we should tread very lightly.  We must be very, very careful and very, very fair in making this decision because what we do today will reverberate throughout our social and political history affecting generations beyond ours." -- Sen. Bongbong Marcos

We hope that the verdict given to the CJ is not politically motivated and without personal vendetta. Besides, our leaders are not the one who will suffer most of the consequences but us.We might not experience the effect today, but it will, in the coming generations.

Only God knows if the decision of the impeached CJ is right and just.

Let us be united in prayer whom all our leaders (present and future) be liked David.

David reigned over all Israel, doing what was just and right for all his people. - 1 Chronicles 18:14

Is there a way to somehow know it is right and just? ...if the wisdom is not worldly wisdom.

But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
  -- James 3:14-17

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.  -- Proverbs 1:7
