2 Kings 5 : Temptation to Sin

Just yesterday, my colleagues and I were discussing about the recent cyber attacks.
When a Chinese hackers apparently defaced the official website of University of the Philippines, then somehow retaliation came by defacing some Chinese websites.

God gave us different gifts (Romans 12:3-6) that we should use for His glory.

As we continue to discuss, we came to a topic about greediness. Wherein a two programmers from a different company intentionally put a bug (error) in their application that credits a very small amount of money to their account in every transaction submitted by the user.

They started with an amount of 0.25 (but imagine 1000 transactions per day). Days passed by, and 0.25 somehow became very small for them and seems unnoticeable to the auditors; they became more greedy as they raised the amount to P1. This the time they were caught and now serving their punishment.

The same thing happened to Gehazi (the servant of Elisha the man of God).  Read 2 Kings 5.

When Elisha didn't accept the gift from Naaman (who he has healed from leprosy), an evil thought came to Gehazi and hurried to Naaman to get some of the gifts Naaman offering to Elisha.

But Elisha said to him, “Was not my spirit with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to take money or to accept clothes—or olive groves and vineyards, or flocks and herds, or male and female slaves? Naaman’s leprosy will cling to you and to your descendants forever.” Then Gehazi went from Elisha’s presence and his skin was leprous—it had become as white as snow.  - 2 Kings 5:26-27

All our wrong doings have counter punishments that only God knows when will it come to you.

Temptation is not yet a sin, so be careful not to sin. For the wages of sin is death... (Romans 6:23)

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. -Proverbs 1:7
