After I read 1 Kings 3, I wonder what do people would ask if somebody
capable of giving anything want suddenly told you, "You wish is my command, what do you want me to give you?"
So, out of curiosity; I asked some of my colleagues and here are their answers:
What if a genie told you that he can grant you one wish, what would you ask for him?
Al : $65Million
Nats : (first he thought of money then he said wisdom) Wisdom
Gavs : Love
Manch : Retirement plan that she'll never get poor.
Bri : Money
Joh : When she grows old, she will asked to be the first one to die of old age than her husband
Just recently, I was really stressed because of work and almost gave it up. For several days, I've been praying and trying my best seeking for a better opportunity, but all were not successful. Praise and thank God, He did not grant my request to quit my job, instead He led me to the path wherein I can see clearly where He's leading me.
It was 1 Kings 3, made me realized that what I'm praying for is not actually what I need.
When God asked Solomon what he wants (1 Kings 3:5), Solomon humbly replied to God asked for a discerning heart and to distinguish between right and wrong (1 Kings 3:9). God was pleased with Solomon and He gave to him more than what he asked for. (1 Kings 3:13)
Most of the time we don't realize that when we pray we asked for something with wrong reason or motivation. Moreover, whenever we pray, it is always self centered, which I was guilty of. :(
As Christians, praying is very common to us. But are we praying for the right reason?
Or are we just praying for long life or wealth for yourself, asked for the death of enemies, etc. (1 Kings 3:11)?
Let us be objective not subjective when we pray; Like Solomon who asked for discerning heart and wisdom. You never know God will give you more than you ask for. :)
God bless.. To God Be The Glory!
